May 7, 200323 yr Hello everyoneNow one more thingThis is killing me.. I've talked to a bunch of people but noone seems to know that. Aparently and understandably the Airbus is not using the NACA airfoil.. Than what is it? Do you have any data for it? I am looking for AoA @ CL = 0CL maxAoA @CL max, andCL opt... for both tip and the and the rootThnks
May 7, 200323 yr Hello CX330 CPA VirtualRelatively big aircraft companies like EMBRAER, Boeing and Airbus quite often develop their own airfoils, in which case their coordinates and drag polars, as well as pretty much any other data, is kept very secret. They will usually publish the name of the airfoil, but I have never come accross useful data on any of the airfoils used in these big aircraft.I think the best thing to be done is to try and match the performance of the aircraft by using an airfoil that you think approximates the shape (mostly the thickness, in percentage) of the one you are trying to mimick.
May 8, 200323 yr Airbus (starting with the A310) designs their own wings. They are designed as 3D surfaces, and as such have no predefined airfoils.Try using one of the NASA supercritical airfoils from the below site:http://www.aae.uiuc.edu/m-selig/ads/coord_database.html
