This is interesting. I knew that they were intending to fly their parts to wherever they were going to be assembled, but I didn't think that they would go as far as to modify a 747 to do it.- Martin

Yeah - but they just buy an An-225 or lease a Beluga until they get their 747XF done...Felix/FFDSPegasus Aviation Design

Lease a Beluga, Airbus would have a huge laugh having Boeing lease one of their planes to carry their planes' parts. :-lol Asthetics aren't that 747's department, but it is an interesting concept. Quite feasible. I'm wondering if Boeing will go so far as to pressurize the thing.

>Lease a Beluga, Airbus would have a huge laugh having Boeing>lease one of their planes to carry their planes' parts. :-lolThat's right. Imagine the loss of face that Boeing would suffer by having to lease an Airbus plane. A few weeks ago, I read that Boeing had finally sold some used Airbuses that it had aquired in a buy-back deal. It is well known that Boeing will buy back older Boeing aircraft to sell newer models. They have a division set up to make these sort of deals. Apparently, a customer insisted that they buy back the Airbus models as well, and these were quietly re-sold a few weeks ago.- Martin
