Novice Painting Question

A question for the guru's.Between FS Repaint and DXTBmp I'm capable of stumbling through repainting aircraft, but I've come to an area that is beyond my limited knowledge and ability.I would like to add some missing framing to a "clear" canopy. I can open the canopy in my editor and add the missing frames, however, when I select the aircraft in FS9 the new framing is nothing more then a tint.How can I add a solid frame to a "clear" canopy?Thanks.
