Helicopter Rotor Animations?

Featured Replies

I am currently working on my first FSDS2 design, and my project is a helicopter. I am working on the animations, and I have a three part rotor, prop0 still, slow and blurred. I rotated the axis so that z is vertical, and overall this seems to work. Unfortunately though, the prop disk sometimes slows to a stop, and even reverses direction. Could anyone give me some advice on how to do this properly?Thank you in advance for any help, regards,Dave

I'm not an FSDS user, but it sounds to me like you are having an effect similar to one seen in GMAX when animating propellers. I am slo guessing that you are using copies of the rotor for each of the three states (still, slow, and blurred). Now, what I have seen people do is, instead of using the actual prop, create a disk that would simulate the prop spinning fast (for blurred state). Then, they apply a texture that shows what the prop would look like when moving very fast. I hope at least some of this was helpful. Also, check out www.hovercontrol.com , there might be some info there :)

Thanks for the reply,I do have a prop blur disk, the problem is with the speed of the disk rotation. I did find the solution at the link to hovercontrol though. I had to add a line to the cfg to adjust prop animation ratio. Thanks again, regards,Dave
