Changing Landing Lights on a/c...Help

I'm flying a freeware plane that I really enjoy but notice a 10fps hit when I turn on the landing lights. This is not the case with the default and other aircraft.My question: Can I alter the landing lights to get a more frame rate friendly set or is this only adjustable through the source code?Thanks very much in advance.Adam
