Landing lights not visible from VC

Me again :DProgress is being made in the Beech 18G I have been working on. See screens below. I have been researching the type extensively and have come to the conclusion that its actually a Beech Midel G18S (much later version) and that Greg's use of "N18G" as its ATC REG is unfortunate indeed as that REG is listed as a "Fatal accident resulting in a total loss of the AC". Gonna have to change that, lol :).Anyway, the only think left to fix is the landing lights. For some reason I can not see the light when in the VC. The light is visible from the 2D, and exterior views, but not VC view.Having redone the config files there seems to be no way to add them there (adding the landing light effect seems to do nothing). The model exterior has two landing light sections labelledlight_land_1 light_land_1_1light_land_2 light_land_2_2which leaves me with this when selected and everything else is hidden:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121417.jpgSo, what now? Do I simply copy these parts over to the exterior (which has no equivilent) or is the problem with the way the glass is cut out of the VC? I also noticed that on Lou's screenshot of the model there appeared to be a colored tinge to the entire windscreen, not just the eyebrow cutouts. Here are the rough and early mockups of the new panel, and VC.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121418.jpgThe above is of the 2d panel. Below is the VC, as you can see its only half done. More work needs to be done on the gauge faces and for perspective (its amazing how much you DON'T have to model if you paint perspective cues onto textures) but its a good start.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121419.jpgCheers and TIA.Shad

Shad,You are making excelent progress! As for the VC landing lights, you need to make copies of the exterior landing lights polys and then link them to the interior node. So you end up with a heirarchy something like this:exterior..l_wing....light_land_1...... light_land_1_1..r_wing....light_land_2...... light_land_2_2interior..l_wing_vc....light_land_1_vc...... light_land_1_1_vc..r_wing_vc....light_land_2_vc...... light_land_2_2_vcNote: The landing light fx file only produces a point of light just like the nav light fx files. As for the glass, I changed the outside glass material from the original. Changing the opacity setting and adding some color and reflectivity by adding a glass texture.Lou

Lou,You da man! And it actually went relatively easily. Now, as they seem to be magically suspended in mid-air, perhaps its time to move them to a spot more fitting landing lights... ie the gear or leading edge.By they way, as I like to give credit to all those who have been of particular help on my website I was wondering if you would send me your last name so its not simply "Lou"? :)CheersShadLatest screens below DUSK with panel lights on.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121609.jpgDAYTIME with new layout.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121610.jpg

Shad,It's Volland :)As to the placement of the landing lights, I have no up close and personal knowledge. From some of the photos I have seen it appears that they are tucked into the bottom of the wing about mid cord outboard of the engines... a sort of ball and socket affair and rotated from being flush when turned on. This must have caused some problems because other photos show them both being in the nose behind what appears to be plexiglass covers...probably more dependable and easier to maintain located there.BTW, You can reduce the size of the polys that are used for the landing lights... they don't need to be anywhere as big as they are. I personally use a single triangle that is about 1'x1'... the actual geometry is tossed out when the model is compiled anyway and it is the pivot point and material name that are important.Lou
