So what happened to the DC-10?

Featured Replies

Did they just get phased out? Seemed like a good aircraft -- were there cost issues involved with it's maintenance that has caused it's demise? It could carry close to a 747 and only had 3 engines and I would image was a tad more fuel efficient, so what happened to it?Robin.

The DC-10 evolved into the MD-11 and then Boeing aquired McDonnell Douglas and phased it out.It is still very popular with cargo companies and they have even updated the avionics in many DC-10's now calling them MD-10's. FedEx is one such company that is doing this upgrade.Regards,Van

Flew into Koln-Bonn airport last month and saw at least 3 DC10s in UPS livery.Jim
