Manual startup in R-22 based helis

Recommended Posts

Guest fbnweoghnwd

I'm trying to implement a manual startup procedure for an R-22 based helicopter. The problem is, once you engage the rotor clutch the engine dies. This is something that slipped in the back door with Acceleration (or possibly SP2) and affects all R-22 based helis; before I installed those the problem didn't exist.I did notice that if you use Ctrl E to start the engine/rotor, it works fine. So: Is there a way to analyze exactly what happens when Ctrl E is used? I'm thinking if I can see what it's doing behind the scenes I might be able to make a doctored-up starter switch that works in a similar way.

Just a follow-up: I never found a way to analyze what's happening in the autostart sequence, but I was able to get a working startup procedure by making a starter switch that uses the ENGINE_AUTO_START eventID rather than the stock starter animation.
