September 22, 200223 yr After reading quite a few posts about reflective windows and transparency, I am looking for a definitive answer. I have built a control tower with gmax and now working on the finishing touches. I can get the windows reflective with the alpha channel, but the reflection seems too white. I can get the windows transparent with the alpha channel, but cannot see the inside of the control tower. I have tried checking double sided texture, I have tried cloning the parts with windows and
September 22, 200223 yr Hi David I for one have never really had much of a problem with transparency but like many here could never really get "reflection"to really work on .bgls (it does seem to work a little better on.mdl's however). It seems that for static meshes(.bgl's) the program's code is lacking in this area. As for your alpha problemI could take a look at your mesh and see what's up if you like I will attach a pic of my tower from our soon the be released CYQT scenery to show that for transparency at least one can get good results with gmax. Also may I ask how you are makeing you textures?. (Hope this is of some help) Dan
September 23, 200223 yr After looking at your screenshot I cut the window sections and applied a transparent material to them. Now I can see the inside of the tower. I'm not really happy with the look, but I'll come back to that later. Thanks David
