Runway light arrays

Featured Replies

I am looking for drawings/graphics of the runway approach lighting definitions included in Architect 2002. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE LAYOUTS, PLEASE.IE:ODALS; MALSF; MALSFR; SSALF; SSALR; ALSF1; ALSF2; RAIL; CALVERT; CALVERT2

Hi Bryan ODALS Omi directional aproach light system 5 strobe lights spaced 200ft apart plus REIL(runway ident lights) MALSFSSALRboth are basicly the same(SSALR is high intenseity) 5 bars of 5 steady burning lights spaced 200 ft apart with a wide "cross bar) at1000ft (plus RAIL 5 strobes spaced 200ft apartstarting at 1400 ft from the threshold). ALSF 1 the "older catI standard approachlighting standard that has mostly been replaced with MALSRSSALRALSF 2 the Cat23 approach lighting standard(in the U.S.) info on allof the above could be found at the FAA site I beleve. Calvert and calvert2 refer to the standard 5 "cross bar" "British" and European approach lighting standards common in Europe info on those can be found through the CAA (Civil Avation Authority) in the UK, as a fulldiscription of all lighting systems can fill a small book. Also notethat outside of the U.S many types of approach lighting systems arenot modeled in flight sim 2002. As approach lighting is done by hard coded calls to the rendering engine (unless you do additional lighting types as 3D ojects) you can not add new lighting types to the program. Hope this is of some help Dan
