Recommendations for simple scenery needs?

Featured Replies

I have not designed any scenery for FS since FS98, and have lost touch with what is available now for FS scenery design (specifically FS2002). I would welcome any recommendations. Presently, my needs are very modest -- to add some structures to an existing airport. But I'll entertain suggestions for more advanced tools, also.TIA.-Basil

Hi Basil there are several tools available for object creation FSDSv2(payware) but not all that expensive and gmax that comes along with the pro version of 2002. I use gmax my self as it's based on 3DSMaxa tool I have used for a long time. Of the two FSDS has less of a learning curve as gmax being a subset of 3DSMax has many tools in itthat one might not need to use (at least at first). Be prepared forto set time aside to learn either tool as neither are simple pointand click tools especially gmax. Of course when questions come up andI am sure they will just post here and people will do their best toanswer 'em. Dan

Dan, did you get my email?Bob B

Nope!! sorry Dan

Hi Basil, i like FSDS v2 to make BGL files but seems they can be a tad framrate hungry as compared to GMAX ( possible because MS i believe wrote MakeMDL ) that may handle the BGL conversion a tad sweeter for FS2K2. however, that is in regards to large volumes of gates, in simple scenery i find FSDS to be very good and as for payware, thats a choice upto you but i think FSDS is worth the money.rgds Jeff
