I have just finished creating a mesh from contour lines using a free program called "Easy Trace 4.3 for Dos" and thought it may be useful to others.http://www.easytrace.com/work/english/download.htmlThe method is quite tricky (and brain numbing) but I am really pleased with results.The advantage I found with this procedure is it is vector based, so scaling the final greyscale still produces a fairly good result.There are a few tricks to this, and a few other programs needed ( Microdem, DXF2XYZ).Hope this is of use, David.

There used to be a program for FS2000 called Grises that did something similar - it worked from a 256 x 256 x 256 grey scale bitmap that you mapped from contours. Worked quite well too!boneshttp://fsaviation.net
