Custom ramp texture...

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hello all, please forgive the rather newbie question, but I am having some troubles.I have created a new custom ramp texture that is 512 x 512 pixels, 256 colors, and I have made some of the background colors transparent to make the concrete seem uneven as this is to be a small airport. First, what would be the best way to implement this texture as a ramp? I would prefer to have a higher resolution than 1 meter/pixel, as there is writing on the ramp that would be difficult to read at such a low resolution.Second, I would like to add the default "airport grass" texture behind this, in effect carving my airport out of the woods, and excluding the autogen. What would be the best approach? Many thanks in advance,

Hi,I think you need to place several textures with the markings, otherwise you will not read them. For a marking like a stand position, say A04, I use a texture like 64 x 128. I start with a color that is approximate of the concrete and use a Text Tool of a paint programme. I use "text with feather". Say that the basic color is gray to match the concrete and that the lettering is in yellow. Then there will be many colors making the transition between the 2 colors. I make the gray color transparent. I apply the polygon with a LayerCall() with a priority higher than the priority of the concrete polygon.Hope this is useful. Regards, Luis
