May 5, 200224 yr Newbie question...Is there a straightforward way to:1) eliminate the compass from the C172SP virtual cockpit?2) move the tach to the 2nd VOR position (next to the VSI)? (in the virtual cockpit)I am using Ron F's airfile. Thanks,Robert Tiffany
May 5, 200224 yr Yup, but it requires some work. Backup your C172 panel.cfg first :-)1: To eliminate the Mag compass (you will only remove the gauge, not the 3D stuff), scroll down to the section in the panel.cfg and locate this line:gauge05=Magnetic_Compass!Magnetic-Compass,455, 0, 57, 57Delete it, and rename the line underneath it (gauge06=Cessna!OMI_Lights, 461, 61, 47, 19) to "gauge05". Magnetic compass gone.2: To move the tachomter to the 2nd VOR position, look for (should be just above the ) and swap gauge08=Cessna182s!VOR2, 257, 129, 126, 126, for gauge15=Cessna172!Tachometer, 128, 383, 128, 128. Note that you only have to change the Cessna172!Tachometer and the Cessna182s!VOR2 bit, not the numbers or the gaugeXX. If it didnt make any sense, I'll try to explain it more :-)http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/edenw/fs_banner_je2.jpg Think highly of yourself, for the world takes you at your estimate -Anon
May 5, 200224 yr That's what I meant:)Actually, moveing the tach isn't that difficult. Moveing the compass though will just leave a blank face in the instrument houseing. The compass casing is built into the model and can't be removed.

I kept the compass and replaced the vor2 with the tach - that way when in vc and tooling around in vfr I can minimize the cockpit to the sacred six (plus some) and still see the tach (never could see it behind the yoke).Robert Tiffany
