neat looking ground textures... how?

Hey guys,I've been doing sceneries for some time now but there is one thing I would love to know how to do. I've been seeing some sceneries recently, especially Martin's Fly Tampa series and some recent simflyers scenery that to not use regular polygons for ground textures... they use some other format other than a ground 3d object too as the textures are not blurry as they are when you do this. The textures are neat and look similar to that of the default grasses, grounds, cities etc. Can this be accomplished with Ground2k? How can this be done? I personally think this is the prettiest ground a guy can make and would love to do some myself. Thanks all,Martin (No not the tampa guy. Just an regular old Martin :-)
