November 16, 200421 yr HelloI saw in the tips section on this forum a list of links for Landclass data but I was wondering how detailed is this data compared to the default FS2004 one especially when it comes to remote areas or places like the Middle East for example?CheersMichel
November 18, 200421 yr Hi.Well... it's probably about the same, but different :) The JRC data is around 1Km resolution - almost perfect for FS. The problem is that you need to convert the class values into something appropriate for FS and, since that dataset had a definite bias, it's not always easy.Once person's mapping will be different to somebody else's. Whether or not it's *better* than the FS default is down to your own opinion but it seems that the JRC data does need a fair amount of massaging t make it useful. For example, a good chunk of Europe is marked as "Farmland" and "Town".HTH,Jim Keir
November 20, 200421 yr This is what I thought :( After all, maybe it's better to create an "impressionist" landclass improvement file using observation and hand painted maps.CheersMichel>Hi.>>Well... it's probably about the same, but different :) The JRC>data is around 1Km resolution - almost perfect for FS.
