Recommended method for handing "modified" default scene...

Recommended Posts

Guest V35 Flier

I am curious what other lake/river/coastline developers do with the MS-default scenery files, such as H*928170.bgl, that must be modified (in most cases, default lakes/river/coastlines removed from the default).I have seen developers include the modified default file in their add-on, but instead of backing up the default file and copying the modified file into the default location (e.g: FS9scenerynamescenery), they place the modified default file into their addon folder. To me, the problem with this method is that there is the potential to have modified default scenery files covering the same location all over the place, making it highly likely that the user sees multiple lakes/rivers/coastlines (a customized and a default one) on top of each other.Has any type of standard been discussed between developers as to how to deal with multiple versions of a modified default scenery file? Thanks,Peter

Hello Peter,Yes there has been a discussion on this matter. Please search the forum. Jim Keir made a small programme that could replace VTP and LWM features on the default VTPxxxxx.BGL
