September 18, 200718 yr I recently purchased FSDS V3.5. Is there a way to add more points to boxes. When I create a box there are 8 points for the box but I want to design a building that is more complex than a normal box and I need more than 8 points on the box to manipulate the shape of the building I want to create since it's not really going to be box shaped.
September 18, 200718 yr This is quite simple, but my description might not be - please bear with me. There's probably an easier way to do this by creating a "tube" objecgt with 8 sides (or whatever), with the long axis as "Y", and with "close Right/Top/Back selected. However, here's the other way:1. go to "point mode" from the toolbar,2. select the "mouse select" box, also on the toolbar,3. click and drag over 2 points that you would like to insert a point in between,4. with 2 points selected, go to the "Part" menu, and select "Add Point",5. a point will appear in between the 2 points you had selected. You now have to do this for every pair of points that you would like to add points to. Also, once you start moving those points around, your polygons won't look right, so you will have to delete the polygons that are bad, and create new ones. This gets to be a chore.Best bet is to create a tube like I described above, and then swith to "point mode" and move the points around where you like them. Truthfully, FSDS isn't very good at this sort of flexible modeling, but once you learn the techniques, you can pretty much create anything that you can in GMAX. Let me know how it goes.- Martin My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
September 20, 200718 yr Thanks. Choosing the tube and then moving the points around in point mode worked out. I also finally now can insert a point between 2 points doing it the way you described.
