June 22, 200223 yr I would like to create a mesh for the island on which I live, Bermuda. Where do I get the geo data or whatever I need to start? Thanks, Steve tanner
July 8, 200223 yr You'll need the FS SDK tool set from Microsoft. (try M$ FS2002 site).FS Terrain from Martin Wright http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/ It uses GTOPO30 data (so Bermuda will be very small) but contains a surprizing amount of detail and makes mesh building easy for beginners http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/gtopo30/gtopo30.htmlAt the very least...GTOPO30 data can be used as a guide for your own hand edited meshes using Greyscale editing for which you'll need a good paint program like Photoshop or Ulead Photo Express etc. The advanced pros use all sorts of data sourses which they compile into a dem file by various means...but programs like Martin's FS Terrain give results fast and might be the best thing for you to learn on.Cheers, Rolf :)
July 9, 200223 yr The current SDK for terrain mesh is still the FS2000 version.:( You can get it here:http://www.microsoft.com/games/fs2000/devdesk_sdk_fs2000.aspRegards,Stevewww.fs-traveler.com
