May 18, 200224 yr For a reson totally unrelated to AI Traffic, I opened LTAC (Esenboga, Ankara, Turkey) in AFCAD. There I saw two runways. They are both 12303 feet in length. However their widths are different: 197 and 148 feet. Now we know FS uses the longest runway for takeoffs and landings. What does it do there since both are the same length ? Does it take the width into account to choose the runway ? That would be a new information (unless it has been reported before and I missed it). I must say I didn't load FS to check for myself, I posted here first because I thought it might be interesting...__________________________________________________________EricUPDATED: List of all airlines, aircraft manufacturers and aircraft types recognised by ATC:http://www.geocities.com/eric_2203/orhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/esearch.php?D...atID=fs2002misc
May 18, 200224 yr Good question, I don't know the answer but I'll check it out when I've finished work today. Personally I don't think it will matter what the width is.Rgds Ron
May 21, 200224 yr Hello,i have an AFCAD file for EDDF. There is a runway 25R and a runway 18 ("Startbahn West") of exactly the same lenght. According to the wind, i and the AI Traffic are send to the appropriate runway. Since runway 18 is closed for landing, all departing aicraft go from runway 18, all arriving ones go to runway 25.If the thing with the runway width does not work, it would perhaps be possible to turn one runway heading a 10th of a degree to the left, the other to the right, to get different runway use every time (so we could get rid of some overlays). Of course, this will not be possible with 3 or even 4 parallel runways. But even if this functions, we do not have parallel landings (even if parallel t/o and landing is possible, like with the AFCAD file for German Airports 2 EDDF, that i mentioned above).
May 21, 200224 yr That's not what I mean. I didn't modify the airport I'm talking about. It's the default FS scenery. In other words, no closed runways. I'm just wondering what happens there, and why. It's the first default airport I see with 2 equally long runways.__________________________________________________________EricUPDATED: List of all airlines, aircraft manufacturers and aircraft types recognised by ATC:http://www.geocities.com/eric_2203/orhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/esearch.php?D...atID=fs2002misc
