UT, PAI, AIA Aircraft- best for FPS

Recommended Posts

Guest mcleadbeater

I understand that Project AI Aircraft are the same as Project AI Aircraft, in terms of their models. Why is it, then, that you need to convert PAI textures for use in UT? Does this give a saving in FPS?If not, is it worth updating PAI/UT Aircraft with AI Aardvark or FS Painter aircraft, which are generally regarded to be kinder on FPS and visually a better quality?Cheers in advance.M

Not having UT, but taking a stab in the dark, It might have to do with model names...It might be that the PAI aircraft within UT have thier texture files mapped to the mdl file with a different name than those aircraft you can download from the PAI site. I know some of the FSP aircraft have become PAI aircraft. If you look at the texture names between an "FSP" aircraft and a "PAI" aircraft the names are different. but if you change the "FSP" textures to the same name as the "PAI" textures they will work on the "PAI" aircraft.

AI-Aardvark are the best for FPS. I could double my frame rate on big airports, if they were all AIA models.
