May 24, 200224 yr We went to Lunken (KLUK) for some T&G's and class D op's yesterday after some manuvers and actually experienced first hand an ASRS report I read a few days ago. Tower called "3LK your second in line behind the Cherokee on 3 mile final, advise traffic in site". Brian (my CFII) and I both looked about where we thought the Cherokee should be, there was a dot, must be the Cherokee..."3LK traffic in site". About 15 seconds later Brian looks down off the right main, (we were in a right hand pattern for 21R) about 200 feet below and there's the Cherokee, turns out our dot was a Citation for 21L, real pretty shiny one too. I asked him if he had seen the Cherokee and was just letting me learn from a mistake and he replied with a very subtle, "nope, looks liked we both got a lesson". We had plenty of distance between us and the Cherokee being on downwind and him on final but like that report said, make sure what you're seeing is what you're suppose to be looking at. The guys in the report had the same thing, except they identified a DC-9 as an Aero Commander they were suppose to site. Turns out the Aero appeared above them about a 100 feet away, least ours was a little closer in size and further in distance.c ya :-waveBart [email protected]http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/pics/ryans...ight/flight.gif http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/bart_logo3.jpg
