Old Fly User Needs Help to Go One More Time!

Featured Replies

I have been away for a long while with college courses and just lately that other sim. Now I want to come back. I lost my hard drive, and all my fly stuff. If I start from scratch I'll use the forum stuff I see here. There is one possibility to transfer old files from an unused FLY installation via the LAN. That one was left at 2.0.218 build. What do I do to try to just move that one over and get it up to date? It does have my Pricey 777 and the Wilco 737 on it.Thanks.L Wiley

While you can transfer the files across what you will be missing are the registry entries that make it all work. What I would suggest is a minimal Fly! install to get the registry set up, then copy the files across over the new install.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

Andrew / LowellYou can simply copy the entire Fly2 directory across. There are no registry entries to worry about.I believe that Fly does create a couple of entries on install, but they are not used at all to actually run Fly!2.I posted a similar answer months ago to someone and someone from TRI confirmed this in a reply to my post.I also know this for a fact with my setup.By this I mean that Fly!2 is running on a computer on which it was never actually installed. It was installed on a secondary HD that has since been transplanted into several different computers. I still have the original installation, patched of course, which is what I use now.Colin

ColinThat's nice to know. Never actually had to do it but you never know when it'll be useful.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH
