Need Advice on Digital Headphones

Recommended Posts

Guest

Today I went shopping for a decent headphone/mike setup to use on VATSIM. I discovered that there are now digital headsets that plug into a USB port. This sounds like a good idea for making it easy to switch between or independently control my speakers and headset. It would really be great if I could get voice coms through the headset and all other sounds through the speakers. Just wondering whether anyone has used these and if there are any drawbacks, such as compatability problems (especially with FS2002). Thanks. David

I have a plantronics USB digital headset and love it. My VATSIM ATC (via Roger Wilco) comes through the headset and the heaset only while all Flight Sim sounds go through the main speakers. It's not yet 100% XP compatible (the volume buttons on the cord don't work), but other than that it works fine. So if you can do without those in-cord volume buttons, then you are set. I guess there is one other downside...have to be wearing them at all times lest you miss an ATC call...Thomas LinTaxiwaySigns.comVolunteers (testers and designers) needed, please visit the site for information
