Q about Waypoints.pod format

Featured Replies

Hello i want to update the waypoints with those used mainly around swiss airports for the various sid/stars etc. But since the text files have only the waypoint name and the coordinates, will it cause problems with the remaining fieldsespecially (Country, State, Magnetic Variation) remaining empty? How important are the fields "Type" and "Usage"? Is it possible to just make them all Type=4 and Usage=4 or 5?Your answers to my question, ok questions, are highly appreciatedkind regardsAndy

Hi Andy,I have not used the waypoint record structure.I came across the same problems when designing FSI - it must update multiple databases to modify runways/ils/navaids. I only update those fields that I know about and leave the others. That is why I wrote DBXOPS.EXE to update some fields. I was not able to generate all the fields for each database record type and then use deximport.A general solution would be to be able to do this dynamically from within Fly! using a DLL. This would reduce the number of different versions of databases on offer and would eliminate static updates of the databases using patches from different sources. But I do not think that with the present SDK such dynamic updates are possible.Padraic (Podjoe) Morgan.
