Excess Textures at Cannes / Gap Tallard ??

Featured Replies

I installed Cannes2_v1c.POD and found an excess number of 256 textures there. My 256 tex count was up in the 700's when the airport was in view. I couldn't figure out specifically what model(s) were causing the problem. Anyone having this issue as well? I've had similar problems (although cannot recall if its the 256 tex counts or some other slot) at Gap Tallard (LFNAv1.POD) airport, also in the SE France. Very slow framerates when the airport is in view. This is a shame. I'm really enjoying all the flying in France but have had some issues with high texture counts at a few French airports.ROTW: Any chance on figuring out the issues here and revising? I think you guys do some of the nicest custom work. Love flying from GA aiport to GA airport, and particulary love the Brittany/Normandy sections where there are TerraScened areas.Appreciate the help...-DK---David KohlFly! Hi DavidI'm the author of Gap Tallard, I try to explain the problem ...The excess number of 256 textures (over 700 at Cannes and 250 at Gap) is principaly due to Statics Models multiples faces like aircrafts models. To better framerates try this render.ini:[Graphics]mipLevelCount=6vertexIndexFormat=0premultiplyColorAndAlpha=0allowAutoMipMapping=0directTextureFlag=0[Textures]maxTextures32=20maxTextures32_565=20maxTextures64=16maxTextures64_565=110maxTextures128=72maxTextures128_565=999maxTextures256=20maxTextures256_565=120maxTextures512=8maxTextures512_565=0maxTextures1024=2mipMapFlag=896[NonAGP]maxTextures256_565=0[AGP]maxTextures256_565=0Modify only number of maxTextures256_565 for find better framerates.I hope that accuracy will be sufficient because my english vocabulary is limited.Sorry David !Beralex

Your English is just fine. I appreciate the advice, although something must be wrong with my system if the RENDER.ini above is sufficient. My slot allocations are much higher than yours except that I do not allocate any text slots the "999" figure (I've had some "SVertex" errors which I was told are due to the use of the 999 allocation). I'm not at my home PC right now, but I seem to recall allocating somewhere in the 100's for the "256_565" slots. I have a 128MB GF4 card.I'll check, but assuming that's not the issue, any other ideas?-DK ----David KohlFly! Note the runway disappearing at Gap as I "raise" the camera angle. The plane was stopped with hand-brake on.What is causing this? -DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v41.09, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.

First, I cannot seem to create the slow framerate problem at Gap. I'm wondering what caused it, but there seems to be no problem anymore. So thank you Beralex for your reply.Nonetheless, here is my RENDER.ini, since I am having the problem described above at Cannes and it is 100% repeatable. I flew from Nice and as soon as the aiport came into view, my rates dropped to below 4FPS. I'm guessing they're at about 1 frame every 1.5 to 2 seconds. See the attached shots after the RENDER file. Note that the first three shots clearly show 30+ FPS. On the second-to-last shot, I caught "clicked" the photo just as the airport came into view, so you'll see the high 256 texture count, but rates didn't drop until a split second later. In the last shot, I'm at the high texture count and my rates are below 4 FPS.-DKRENDER.ini{Graphics}premultiplyColorAndAlpha=0allowAutoMipMapping=0directTextureFlag=0mipLevelCount=8vertexIndexFormat=0{Textures}maxTextures32=32maxTextures32_565=32maxTextures64=32maxTextures64_565=204maxTextures128=164maxTextures128_565=400maxTextures256=120maxTextures256_565=300maxTextures512=8maxTextures512_565=1maxTextures1024=2mipMapFlag=896{NonAGP}maxTextures256_565=0{AGP}maxTextures256_565=0----David KohlFly! Actually, I know the problem but only near to grass runway and with precise camera angle. The probable cause is ground elevations , I try to change the altitude of grass runway without success.I search to solve the problem with ground elevations. At laterBeralex
