I think it was Heat - No more CTD's (yet)

Featured Replies

I don't want to shoot myself in the foot here, but so far since placing a 6" clip-on fan under the desk behind my PC, I have not had a CTD. I haven't made any other changes since the last set of threads in this posting... http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=19007&page=2I want to thank everyone for suggesting heat as the cause. Now - I am going to run another test. I bought a LeadTek GF4 Ti 4600 (eBay) and plan to run it for a few weeks. If I get no CTD's, my current card is still under warranty and Dell told me they'll replace it. Mentioned this b/c I will be putting the new replaced Ti 4600 up for sale. If anyone's interested send me a note. Again, thank you all. -DK----David KohlFly! make sure you get motherboard monitor and monitor the temperature of the cpu. If an amd goes near 60 c, watch out. Intel can go higher. Of course, these temperature are caused by: intensive graphics programs, overclocking, and of course, poor ventilation.tony

David,Good to see some progress. Heat can be a sneaky, tough enemy, and it does not give any pre-warnings. Good luck...
