Duaphin questions

Recommended Posts

Gday fellahs! I would imagine no one here knows me despite the fact I have been enjoying your addon work for years now with Fly!2. I have some questions regarding the Dauphin. It is absolutely of excellent quality and I was taken completely by surprise to fnd it! My (minor and petty I know) problem is that the the rotor disk moves to the wrong axis of my bodgy Microsoft Precision 2 , but it flies to the right axis (ie: push forward, rotors move to effect a left bank but it noses down instead). Can I change this myself easily? Very minor I know, but I would like to fix it. Thanks for listening and thanks for the excellent work on the Dauphin, F2FD. Very nice ;)Russki Bear

Russki,I think I know what you mean (without looking at it) but I think the rotor's animation is hard-coded. All we do in the animation is rotate it and "twist" it for the cone effect, the rest is done by Fly!...I could be wrong so I'll take a look at the RTR file to see if there's anything there for the visual model but I doubt so.Does the Bell 407 do the same?Regards,http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/banneraa.jpg

Hi Russki. As I understand it,it's the blade movement versus stick movement we are talking about. You are right, the blades don't move as the Dauphin should. They fit more into an anti clockwise rotor if I remember correctly. This is a problem that was never thought of when making the animation for the rotor. And as you say,it's a minor problem. The Bell do it diffrently,There the blades flap in the direction the stick moves,to indicate the position where the rotordisc should be when turning. But still wrong if viewed when not turning. This is just animations, and there is no possibility to make the blades/rotordisk move correctly both static and when turning. The gyro effect can't be implemented.Jarno have to answer if it's possible with some renaming of the rotor parts to make some changes to wich blade move where. Thanks for your kind words,I hope you'll still enjoy flying it,regardless if this can be fixed or not.So long.Janhttp://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannerjh.jpg

Russki,Well, I have good news and wanted to thank you for pointing this out. Now I've learned that the parts need to be named in a certain way. The blade pointing to the north needs to be number 4, the one pointing to the west is number 3, the one pointing to the south is number 2, and the one pointing to the east is number 1. I made the changes in the acm file (just changed the parts' names) and that fixed the problem. You can download the file [a href=http://www.f2fdesign.com/downloads/DAUPHIN365N.zip]as a zip file[/a] (472Kb) or directly [a href=http://www.f2fdesign.com/downloads/DAUPHIN365N.ACM]as the acm file[/a] (1.76MB).If you used the zip file, unzip it. Put the dauphin365n.acm file in your /models folder. That's it!This will be fixed whenever we release a newer version.Enjoy!http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/banneraa.jpg

Wow! Thanks mate. I am sorry I haven't visited in a while to get your hard work - I hope you didn't think it was for nothing. And as for Jan's reply, of course I am flying it! I am gonna hafta download the Seneca soon, but my 28.8K connection (thankyou Telstra) means it is an overnight download. Thanks again.Russki Bear

Sure thing. I have been thinking of pulling out the old 3D modelling suite and making the Jumeirah International Hotel in Dubai, UAE to land a Dauphin on ;)Russki Bear
