Tweaking water color/reflectivity?

Featured Replies

Just wondering how to go about doing this...Did a search but didn't turn anything up.Cheers,Andrew

The water color comes from the sky (note you can see clouds in the water - don't think you get this with other sims and not enought people talk about that feature!). You can influence this by changing the transparency and reflectivity in the fly.ini file. Look for entries having to do with water there.http://www.thesalters.org/images/Avsim_sig_KS.jpg

Thanks again, Ken!I didn't know Fly! water reflected clouds!!Andrew>The water color comes from the sky (note you can see clouds >in the water - don't think you get this with other sims and >not enought people talk about that feature!). Look at the water closely, notice the difference?http://www.thesalters.org/images/Avsim_sig_KS.jpg

Ken...in this final shot of yours, I notice you're using quite a clear blue sky (looks like Real Sky 3)...but your water is a bit darker. Is this because you've adjusted your transperancy settings in fly.ini? If so, what setting are you using? If not, perhaps this is just the default water view for this area?Dan

Yes I have tweaked it, here is my settings:waterTransparency=200Unfortunately the jpg compression makes it hard to see the cloud reflections, I'm trying to see if there is a way to enhance this...http://www.thesalters.org/images/Avsim_sig_KS.jpg

Thanks for the info, guys - Ken - yes, I'm having a hard time seeing the reflections exactly. Just on the border of my imagination, I think :)Andrew
