Weird Message from FU3

Recommended Posts

Guest Stan V

I recently got a new computer and made a new install of FU3 on it - including the extra San Francisco scenery from FU2, which I also own. Note, I did not install FU2 per se - just exercised the FU3 option to pull in the scenery from the FU2 scenery disk. Now, whenever I start FU3, I get a banner asking me to insert Disk 2 of the FU2 program. Since I have the disk, I inserted the requested disk but it doesn't seem to help the situation any - the disk is not read and the banner still remains smack in the middle of my screen. FU3 seems to be responsive except for that banner. Anybody have any ideas about what I might try in order to get solve this problem?Stan V.

Hi Stan, give this a try1)Inside your flight3 program folder open the folder named Cdrom2)Inside this folder,open the folder named Sanfran,check that there is data in a sub folder named Maps If there is, then3)Back into your main flight3 folder,open the folder named regions4)Inside this folder, open the folder named Sanfran, then the file named region.cfg (use windows notepad or similar txt program)5)Check the line that starts reg_cd_path actually points to your flight3cdromsanfranmaps folder, if not just edit in the correct path and that should do it. Here follows my region.cfg file for Sanfran, the reg_cd_path is second line down,---------------------------------------------------------------------- reg_name San Francisco Bay Areareg_cd_path C:Program FilesFlight3CDROMsanfranmapsreg_terrain_disk_name Flight Unlimited II Disk 2 (Game Disk)reg_cd_levels 2reg_icon sanfran.gifreg_north 1.27409035reg_utm_zone 10reg_utm_offset 473088 4096000reg_width 10reg_height 11reg_airport sforeg_sealevel 100reg_timezone -8; These are the mappings from world; to pixel coords for region map and vice versareg_map_col1 0.00825624 0.000104323 0reg_map_col2 0.000127584 -0.00821266 0reg_map_col3 463.773 1501.57 1reg_imap_col1 121.097 1.53826 0reg_imap_col2 1.88124 -121.739 0reg_imap_col3 -58986.2 182086 1; These are the mappings from world; to pixel coords for outer terrain map and vice versareg_omap_col1 0.000815094 0.000248067 0reg_omap_col2 0.000248067 -0.000815094 0reg_omap_col3 659.597 1103.66 1.0reg_iomap_col1 1122.84958664767797 341.728967661259552 0reg_iomap_col2 341.728967661259552 -1122.84958664767797 0reg_iomap_col3 -1.11778203155719224e6 1.01384562900170194e6 1; These are the zoom and built in offsets for each levelreg_fbo_map_zoom 3.1668 1.5834 1.0reg_fbo_map_offset 48 0 0 0 0 0; These are for terrain mirroringreg_mirr_x 0 1reg_mirr_y 1 1; These are for terrain resizing from its compressed formreg_reng_scale .03051757;reg_reng_base -33.0reg_reng_base 0; These are the time of day values: 24hr time, Season; 0=Summer, 1=Winter, 2=Spring, 3=Fall.reg_DayTime 14 0reg_NightTime 3 0reg_DawnTime 5 0reg_DuskTime 21 0reg_SunriseTime 6 0reg_SunsetTime 20 0reg_bgrreg_floor_models ----------------------------------------------------------------------Hope this helps,:-wavePete

Pete,You hit the nail right on the head - thank you very much. It all makes sense now. Apparently, after my new install, I had gone back and re-copied selective directories from my old installation just to make sure I had captured all my changes made previously. The Regions directory was one of the ones I copied - and of course, along with it came the incorrect pointer to the maps directory. Bingo!!!Thanks again - you saved me another reinstall try.Stan
