General upgrade of London

Recommended Posts

I am continuing to work on upgrading London buildings, and some examples are shown here. Sorry Hans Petter, I can't put together a version for the web or email just yet, as its only recently that I released the last build of the models database, and also I have further plans that I want to finish first - explained below. Anyway, some shots first.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120136.jpgNew facade for the ExCeL conference centre, with the Holiday Inn (left) and Brittania Bridge (redid piers for this too).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120137.jpgI have just about finished resetting all of the London buildings to their new heights after the excellent terrain work by agtim. Some features here - the foreground building fits into the hollow in the terrain, - the old Shell building (white) now is more detailed and to correct height and width (old version was based on high angle photos which made it look bigger - thanks Cristian for pointing that out). - you can see the angle on the wheel - I measured the lean back angle at about 7 deg and had to do all the calcs by hand, for a detail most people wouldn't notice. I think this angle is to make sure it doesn't fall into the river but stays on rear "legs". - the cricket ground in the background is the Oval. (The Australian Cricket Team is one of the best in the world. Just this week, for example, we gave Banglah Desh a real scare, only just losing by about 5 wickets I think it was. And England clobbered us. But only just).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120138.jpgNow for something completely different, here's Weymouth!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120139.jpgSame different place. This time at high speed.I hope to do some work on framerates over the next weeks by redoing all '0' LOD models with simplified '1's. This will reduce the load from display of distant packages at least. But I flew over UKS on a fast computer last week, and there were no real framerate problems - it stayed 12-20 range over the most dense sceneries, so maybe you guys are right. Its time to upgrade.I am buying a new computer.RobD.
