Featured Replies

What is the difference between the following aircraft?737-200737-300737-400Im looking at pics of them at PF ,but, viusually they look the same? Thanks,Ed :-outta

They are different lengths. The 737-200 is 96'-11 long with a 93'-0 wing span. The 737-300 is 105'-7 long with a 94'-9 wing span. The 737-400 is 115'-7 long with the same wing span as the 300. Also the 737-300/400/500 uses CFM 56-3C1, 3B1,3B2, while the 737-200 uses the JT8D engines.Brent/PF

Thanks

The 737-100 and 200 models were the first generation of 737s. They had the old JT8D engine and old mechanical gauges. The 737-300,400 and 500 were the second generation. They had the CFM56 engines and upgraded, more modern avionics. The 737-600,700,800,900 are the "next generation" series. They have the newer, quieter and more efficient CFM56-3SX1 along with all new "glass" avionics. They also have an all new wing (24% larger)Within each family the primary difference in models is length and passenger capacity.Mike Stone

And also the NG's tail is larger :)

understatement :-)NG engines also are round, where the -300/-400/-500 have the engines slightly flattened at the bottom to improve ground clearance.

This site has the most info I have found on the different 737shttp://www.b737.org.uk/
