June 9, 200223 yr This may be old news, but if you go to www.garmin.com, and then "aviation avionics", there is a free download of the GNS 530 interactive simulator. I is practically fully functional with real world database. roger
June 9, 200223 yr Hi Roger, there s also one available at: http://www.upsat.com/dwnlds/simulator/gxsi...ic_americas.zip for the Apollo GPS with Americas Databasehttp://www.upsat.com/dwnlds/simulator/gxsi...ternational.zip for the Apollo GPS with ROTW Databaseand the overall download page with manuals at: http://www.upsat.com/down_home.shtmlThis makes me glad to use the great Reality XP Flight Line Avionics GPS. It is so close to the real thing, no wonder the Sales and Marketing director at UPS Aviation Technologies is pleased to support the Reality XP product!!!http://www.reality-xp.com/Press/PressRelease01032002.htmHope it helps!
June 9, 200223 yr Question:Could Garmin or another 3rd party make this GPS sim work with FS2002? Im currently flight training in an aircraft with duel Garmin 430's and It would have been great to use the GPS sim with FS2002 as I prepared for my instrument check ride. The sim as a stand alone is kind of boring and does not inspire me to practice with it.
June 9, 200223 yr There is a Garmin 530 included with the C421 Golden Eagle, however since I do not own it i'm not very sure how close to the real GNS 530 it is.Scott
June 9, 200223 yr RogerWhen the new owner of N145DR Seneca five took delivery the aircraft which is equipt with the Garmin 430/530 and Avidyne came equipt with two discs with the Garmin 530 and 430 programmes for home study.I used them to get up to speed but frankly far from being "fully functional" they are mere ghosts of the real unit. The real unit has numerous functions the 530 programme was in my eyes just a marketing novelty.I gave up and played with the real unit on trips as well as reading the manual to learn how to use the Garmin 430/530.Peter
