Radar Contact Control Panel question

Hello All, I am having a ball with v2.2 of RC, with RCCP, but every once in a while my FS2002 quits because of the rccp.dll, at least according to Bill's XP PRO Event Log. I have tried the -OldModules- bit but it really doesn't seem to matter. (The forum doesn't like the bracket so I used parenthesis.) I wonder if anyone uses this RCCP on a system using XP PRO? Maybe Billy's code works differently on Win2000 or even Win98. Would appreciate any comments. Thanks

Hi, Well, after close scrutiny of the XP Event Log I thought I would do a little reshuffling of the related DLLs and, lo and behold, I don't seem to have a problem now. One thing you cannot tell about these DLLs, whether there is any form of hiearchy involved when they are installed. It would be my guess that there shouldn't be but, then again, I'm not Billy.Cheers

Blais,Yep, that's windows for you. I have taken years to figure out what needs to load first and doing what I can to make it happen.Glad you got it sorted out.

Hi All,You are not the only one with problems. I just recently switched my operating system to Win XP-Pro and had some incredeble fun getting everything up and running again.I have still some small problems. Sometimes mostly towards the end of a flight the system stops and shuts down. Sofar I have not been able to pin point the culprit yet. However you where talking about DLL driver loading. Can you tell me please how you can change the loading sequence and what you have done. For information here is my system setup:PC 1:Motherboard Intel.Processor P4 1.7GRam: 1 Gig RDRam PC800HDD: Western Digital 80 Gig 7200 RpmCD: Creative DVD - CD Rom DriveGraphics: Gforce 4 Ti 4600 128Mb DDRMonitor: 2 x Samsung 17" DFX763Sound: Creative SBLive 5.1 PlatinumNetwork: Realtek Network CardPC 2:Motherboard ? Hello Jack, Gee you would have to ask THAT question wouldn't you. Well, I'll tell you. It is purely S--- Luck on handling DLL's. You can search all the textbooks and manuals on XP PRO that you can get your hands on and you still will not have much success. It is a real bummer. I suspect Scott is sitting back a bit and chuckling. I also suspect he too will say that there is no actual well-defined path to follow. It's a little bit of this and a little bit of that. If we could get Billy to somehow suggest a method of obtaining some form of necessary hierarchy so these problems would be minimized but I suspect his group of folks are in the same boat. Yet there is a little thing, very important, that you SHOULD follow every time you install ANYTHING on your machine. Take a good look at the files to be installed and see if there are any whose date is older than what you already have on your machine. Usually Microsoft is pretty good for prompting for your response if a file being loaded is older but this also is not ALWAYS the case. Now if the software you're installing is not from Billy's group, BE CAREFULL. This is why it is a good practice to purchase good quality software from folks you can trust. I wish I could be of some help but basically you are sort of on your own. There is no magic. You may even have to UNINSTALL and RE-INSTALL your software and only God knows how much. How much of it has to be processed this way is dependent on what file was damaged. As you have XP PRO make a HABIT of establishig a RECOVERY MODE sequence so that you can always fall back to a known good system. Well, almost always anyway. This is why the IP folks get paid good bucks. We've all been down that road before.A sincere Good Luck

Scott definitely does not chuckle when it comes to screwing around with anything from Mr. Bill. The answer, as you say, is trial and error. :-erks

Hi Scott, I didn't mean to imply that you chuckled on the person's dilemma, not at all. What I meant is that you might get a little chuckle at the idea that there is an easy way out. I also do not tamper with Bill's software. I have learned my lesson over the years. Yet I do get a little nervous when Billy Boy sends those XP PRO updates. I have no idea what Microsoft is ACTUALLY doing during these automatic updates.Cheers

Blais,They're implementing a mind-reading port and finger-reader so it can report to Mr. Bill everything you've ever done (on or off the computer), with any person in the world, collecting DNA material, and cloning you so Bill can replace you with a Microsoft-purchases-only pod person....or so I hear... :-lol
