AI Question

Featured Replies

RCV3 up and running just fine. Take it from me... Bill Stevens is alive and well! I seem to have taken a slight frame rate hit but I'm still tweaking. Problem is that I am still flying the "lonely" skies... I can see AI aircraft on the ground but nothing in the air. I generally fly the PSS747 and the cockpit display shows traffice but I can't physically see anything in the air. Was looking forward to some comany after all these lonely months. What am I doing wrong?Jeff Evans

Hi Jeff,RC3 shouldn't have any affect at all on the amount or behaviour of the ai traffic.Keep trying and let us know if the problem persists. I usually end up with loads of airborne traffic (thankyou projectai!)All the best,John

On a flight from KBWI to KIAD, I executed a short final request and found my little Cessna 172 in the middle of a pack of jetliners on final for runway 1L. Now I have to admit that it was cool having a 747 buzz my cockpit but I have a problem of reality here. I did not invoke fsatc at all I stayed completely with RC3, was it my request for a short final that got me in trouble or was this the correct behavior for RC and something we will have to live with?Great product so far.Tom

Tom,It's something you'll have to live with. RC is doing its best to inform you of traffic, but when you're on final RC has to spend its time watching you, not the skies around you. It takes a lot of processing to look for traffic and decide if you are in danger. If MS ever puts out an AI/ATC SDK (which will peobably never happen), then RC could do a better job.In the meantime, you can at least monitor FSATC to see what's on final.

Jeff,I don't know if any of the people helped you out on the missing AI, but in case you still have that issue. here's a link on the FS forum. Heather had your exact problem (missing AI)http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...orum=DCForumID8

Scott,Thanks for the answer and as in life I got an answer but it was not what I really wanted to hear. Oh well... I am disapointed but if that is the way it is then that is that, now I guess I just have to watch out for the big boys when I fly and declare a missed if it looks like I am going to get sucked up in a turbofan :-)Thanks again,See ya in the airTom
