Question about synthesized controller voice in RC3

Featured Replies

Hi,Reading back on a previous post by Doug Thompson, I noticed he stated that beta versions of RC3 incorportated computer synthesized speech for some of the controllers and that this was dismissed as not being acceptable by the testers. Therefore as I understand it, synthesized speech was supposed to be dropped for the release version. However, I am hearing computer generated speech for a controller in various positions on a regular basis with my RC3 flights. This is definitely synthesized speech and I'm not confusing it with a foreign accent. I did search through all the controller .wavs in RC3 directories and could not find synthesized .wavs pre-recorded. Is the speech synthesizer incorporated into RC3 and generated on the fly or something? I really find it very unrealistic as did the beta testers apparently. I wonder if there is a workaround possbile to bypass synth speech altogether?Thank you.

Jonas,You are hearing NO computer synthasized voices in RC. It's not even a possbility. What's in the winwood2 - 10 direcotries are what's in RC. 2-10 are controllers, 0 and 1 are the pilots. 98 to 91 are the chatter pilots. All the humans who recorded are listed in each folder.Record what you are hearing and e-mail it to me.

LOL, Scott, you must think I'm crazy but I SWEAR I'm hearing a controller with a computer synthesized voice or something completely indistinguishable from such. I cannot replicate the sound by manually playing back the .wavs to locate the exact ones. I am however able to hear a similiar tone with one of the voice sets but it's not the same as what I'm hearing when using RC3 and FS2002. Is it possible Im getting some kind of 'gopher' effect (sound playing at too high a pitch) with one particular controller sound set? Only one voice set seems to be affected, the others are working fine. But I absolutely promise it sounds completely synthesized like the 'wargames' voice from the movie or the Alanta Airport Tram robo-voice if you've ever heard it. It's not human, lol. I sure would like to know what the heck is going on, I'm stumped. Thanks for you help.
