RCv3 and Flying a Published Approach

Featured Replies

A question for you RCv3 gurus. In earlier version of the product, ATC always issued direct descent instructions or simply said, "Cross 40 miles from KFOO at 10,000" (for example). Rarely could I follow a published arrival without the controller harping on me for descending too late or too soon or busting altitude. I more or less had to ignore the published procedure entirely and just let RC do the driving from about 100 miles out.Does v3 offer any better support in this regard where I can file a plan with crossing restrictions and have ATC say, for instance, "Continue inbound via published procedure, cross waypoint XXXXX at 10,000" (where 10,000 would actually be the published crossing restriction for XXXXX as specified in my flight plan?)J

J,There are over 20 discussions of this already. To summarize, in the real world you don't always get to fly the published approach. These days, far more often than nor you will have radar vectors, andrarely will you be allowed to fly a STAR.If you really want to fly a plate as published, request IAP, or enable NOTAMs, or both.

OK...sounds like it's more or less the same in this regard. I apologize for creating the 21st thread on this subject matter - I should have searched (tired and lazy tonight I s'pose). Do 'preciate the reply just the same. Thanks,J
