Unlucky

HiI have so far done 10 flights with RCV3 and I do enjoy the program. I can actually determine teh point on my STAR where RC will want me to be at 10k and plan ahead with my FMC etc. However, the problem (or mabye lack of luck) is that every single time I come in to land, and get clearance to land, I am told to "go around". This happened ALL 10 TIMES!!!!!. Frankly its getting tiresome now. In about 4 out of the 10 times I was told to go around TWICE...that is, after going around the first time and being vectored back and told "cleared to land" I am told to go around again. With the other 6 times, I was able to land after going around once.Am I just unlucky with the random (well not so random is it?) calls for go around or is there some sort of bug here?. Last night, going into KJFK, after going around TWICE already and being told to go around again on the third attempt, I landed anyway, got the visit from Bill, gave him the "finger" or "bird" when he was leaving and went sulking to the restrooms...LOL.Any suggestions? Do I probably need to re-install RCV3?Lagaz.

Lagaz,There are some of us having the same problem, but have yet to determine what's causing it.Were you using RC on a second system when this happened, or on the same machine as FS?(I rather like the giving of the finger thing myself ;-))

Hi there,Two questions,1. Are you running RC on the same machine as FS or via widefs on a second machine?2. Does tower tell you to go around with no explanation or do you get told 'It was observed that your gear was up'?Scott seemed to get 'gear up' go arounds occuring a lot when running RC on a second machine and I seem to get more than my fair share of normal go arounds when running on the second machine.Any input which will help us figure out what's going on will be very welcome.Nowadays I do what you did and close RC when I see Bill coming ;-)Boy will he be mad when he finally catches up with me.All the best,John

Gotta be quiok to beat you to the reply Scott :-lolAll the best,John

John,Yeah, well, if I'd ever sleep, you could beat me to it! :-lolDifference is, you know what you're talking about. I'm clueless!

Sorry,I dont use a second computer...I only have one computer. Therefore I dont use wide fs. or any other software of that nature. As for my landing gear, its always down as soon as I detect glideslope activity.....sometimes even on base.I'm doing a flight CYYZ to KMIA as I type this. I will let you know if I have to go around again.BTW, and this is the first time I have done this, I am actually flying on VATSIM but using RCV3 since there are no controllers around. That is so cool!! (Note: This is the first time I did this so please do not consider it as a reason for my "go around" problems)Lagaz.

>Were you using RC on a second system when this happened, or >on the same machine as FS? >I had this problem yesterday on a flight to Newark, using the Baron. Was vectored to the ILS 22L approach. Everything went smoothly. Received my landing clearance from tower. Just as I was coming over the runway threshold at about 100 feet AGL, I was told to "go around". No explanation from tower as to why. It definitely wasn't due to late deployment of the landing gear, as I extended it a good 15 miles out on the approach.Did the go-around, contacted approach when asked, and was re-vectored for another attempt. Same thing happened, in exactly the same place - was told to go around just before getting ready to start the flare. This happened 6 times in a row! I finally cancelled IFR on the 7th attempt. In any case, I AM running RC on a second machine. In all other respects, it works perfectly in this setup... no "slow controller speech".Jim Barrett

I had my 1st go around yesterday coming into KSLC. It was the gear up scenario. I had dropped the gear just after the GS started down. I usually drop it on base, and I did that on the second attempt and everything went fine. RC3 and FS2002 on the same PC.

Finally!!! My luck has changed (knocking a piece of plywood..I wonder if plywood counts, or if it has to be Elm, or perhaps OAK...LOL). I landed at KMIA on the first attempt. No "Go around" was ordered. The one thing different? I droped my gear when turning to final about 21NM out. (Loc Rwy 30 was used). I will try dropping the gear really early in the future and see what happens. Now for KMIA to KATL..Radar contact is great. But first, while I'm this lucky, I'm going out to buy a lottery ticket. Lagaz.

Dropping the gear early won't help. I too am getting go arounds about 3 out of 4. Good thing I know Mr BIll. I can't find a pattern. Something is amiss, we just have to figure out what? By the way Mr, Burgess, I had a note from FSDO on my desk today, a Mr Stevens. He wanted to know if I knew who you were. I disavowed all knowledge of you of course... :-lolLarry

Well, so far, I've done 4 more flights and landed on the first approach every time. On each, I dropped the gear at least 15NM out.First was with the PSS A321, Second with the PICPOSKY767, Third with the DF734. Fourth with the F1DC9. No visit from Bill either. Just this Kiss-up guy telling me to keep flying in his airspace. LOLLagaz.

Kiss up Guy. :-lol Are you getting a little tired of this Center Controller? I know I have to have alot of patience... :-lolLarry
