December 19, 200223 yr In RC 2.2. there were american chatter in areas not having there own recorded chatter, so it at least not was totally silent. It doesn'tseem to be so in vers. 3. Since i got vers. 3 i have been flying around in US, so i haven't noticed this - first today when i went to Puerto Rico and it was in complete silence.Do i have to copy the US chatter to all the different empty libraries or is there another way to do it?
December 19, 200223 yr Lars,Puerto Rico is one of those odd places. When you don't have canned chatter, and no oceanic chatter for an area, it defaults to generated chatter. However, generated chatter is turned off when you are over water, so it's a no-win situation without canned chatter. There should be some island chatter around. Jamaica for one place. You can copy canned chatter into atco, atc1, atc2, atc3 directories under winwood334 and see if that helps.
December 19, 200223 yr 334 seems to be Chile, so it must be one of the others... ;-) Also, it would just be for the area. Anyway - i was just curious if there was a way to hear the american chatter where there were no other chatter - the same way as in 2.2, without having to copying the files into dozens of libraries..
December 21, 200223 yr Lars,Sorry about that. Puerto Rico is (obviously) in San Juan control (347).What you can do is put a blank text file into 347. Name it $usa.txt That way you'll get USA canned chatter. You will also need to copy over some oceanic chatter.Copy atco from somewhere with oceanic (like 348) to 347. Now you should have all chatter over Puerto Rico and the area.
December 21, 200223 yr Cool, Scott!! That i will do. It was something like that i had hoped for, rather than dozens of libraries with the same hundreds of files.... :-) But i since you write "i have to" copy over some oceanic chatter, i wonder why "i have to"? Wouldn't it work just with the american chatter or do you mean it as an option??
December 21, 200223 yr Lars,Chatter cuts off over water, and there's always a good chance oceanic chatter will play over water. So try it without copying atco first. If it's dead silent when you are over water, try copying the atco directory.
