Automatically Set Priority for RCV3 in Win95/Win98/WinM

, the following steps will show you how to set up Radar Contact version 3 to automatically run at a higher process priority.1> Download PrcView (Process Viewer), which will allow you to control the processes running on your Windows platform.The link for the download is at:http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_down...ileidx,1,00.asp2> Open the ZIP file you downloaded and extract the PV.EXE program to your Radar Contact folder.http://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen1.jpgYour Radar Contact folder should now have the PV.EXE icon and not the PrcView.exe iconhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen2.jpg3> Next, a batch file must be created to help launch RCV3 and then set the higher priority. Right click in any open area of your Radar Contact folder and select New, then Text Documenthttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen3.jpgThe text of the new document will be highlighted. Type in the new name Start-RCV3.bat. After you hit the enter key, you will be warned about changing the filename extension. Confirm the change by clicking Yeshttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen4.jpgTo add text to the batch file, right click on the Start-RCV3.bat file icon and choose Edithttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen5.jpgType the following into Notepadhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen6.jpgClick File, then Save, to complete the batch file.4> Now you must modify the Start button menu, so it uses the batch file instead of the shortcut to the RCV3 program.Click on the Start button and navigate to the Radar Contact menu. You'll notice that you now have an MS-DOS icon on the menu. In the Change Icon dialog window, click on the Browse button, then navigate to the Radar Contact folder and click on RADAR.ICOhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen14.jpgThe Change Icon dialog window now shows the Radar Contact iconhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/screen15.jpgClick OK on the Change Icon dialog window and then click OK on the Launch Radar Contact Properties window.You are now set up so Radar Contact will run at a higher priority level when you launch from the Start button.If you find that you need to run at Real-time priority, then edit the Start-RCV3.bat batch file and substitute the line:pv -ph rcv3.exewithpv -pr rcv3.exe
