December 22, 200223 yr - or manybe not that strange for a real-time pilot, which i'm not. Now it's the second time, after takeoff and beyond FS200, that i'm sent back towards the airport during climb (and not because of a missed waypoint). The first time was after takeoff from KSFO, where the co-pilot was flying the plane, so i just noticed that the plane turned 180 degrees towards the airport. When we were told to climb again, but with no information about change of course, the co-pilot turned the plane 180 degrees again.Today, at takeoff from BIKF, the last i heard was to maintain navigation, so i entered the direction for the next waypoint. As an angry controller made a lot of noise, i handed it over to the co-pilot and the "fun" repeated itself. Now - if i'm supposed to fly in another direction, why am i not told???? I don't have a crystal ball or the capibillity of reading other peoples mind.. ;-)I btw. never experienced this in RCv22 ...
December 22, 200223 yr Don't know if it explains anything.. :-) - but here it is..[flightplan]title=BIKF to EKCHdescription=BIKF, EKCHtype=IFRroutetype=1cruising_altitude=35000departure_id=BIKF, N63* 59.10', W22* 36.33', +000170.60departure_position=GATE 5destination_id=EKCH, N55* 37.07', E12* 39.36', +000016.40departure_name=Keflavikdestination_name=Kastrupwaypoint.0=BIKF, A, N63* 59.10', W22* 36.33', +000170.60,waypoint.1=METIL, I, N63* 58.32', W21* 31.57', +000000.00,waypoint.2=MIKLA, I, N63* 50.90', W17* 34.45', +000000.00,waypoint.3=ING, V, N63* 48.18', W16* 38.28', +000000.00,waypoint.4=ROSTI, I, N63* 24.38', W14* 6.73', +000000.00,waypoint.5=LINDA, I, N62* 37.30', W10* 0.00', +000000.00,waypoint.6=MY, N, N62* 6.41', W7* 35.26', +000000.00,waypoint.7=CONNY, I, N61* 54.00', W5* 35.00', +000000.00,waypoint.8=VALDI, I, N61* 12.85', E0* 0.00', +000000.00,waypoint.9=ZOL, V, N58* 52.50', E5* 38.41', +000000.00,waypoint.10=LAREM, I, N58* 13.95', E7* 30.00', +000000.00,waypoint.11=SVA, V, N58* 5.07', E7* 54.50', +000000.00,waypoint.12=AMSEV, I, N57* 40.52', E8* 48.13', +000000.00,waypoint.13=AAL, V, N57* 6.22', E9* 59.74', +000000.00,waypoint.14=KAS, V, N55* 35.43', E12* 36.82', +000000.00,waypoint.15=EKCH, A, N55* 37.07', E12* 39.36', +000016.40,It had passed METIL and were on it's way to MIKLA. In the GPS windows you could see that it was counting downwards towards the next waypoint, so it had registred that i had passed the waypoint before.METIL is some 28 nm from the Airport and taking of from rwy 11, one is on course from the start. There were no gusts or turbulence, so there weren't any problems in staying on course...
December 22, 200223 yr Lars, Looks like METIL is your 2nd waypoint. Having the first two waypoints within 30 miles of dep airport makes this dep a "Dep Proceedure" where you have to get within 2 miles of each checkpoint to get credit for it. Did you get that close to BIKF?Best, Rob
December 23, 200223 yr Lars,That 1st checkpoint's about 28m out, correct? I just created and flew the entire flight. Absolutely no problem in progressing any checkpoint.Something did look suspicious though. I'd bet that very close to METIL, you were switched to 'Control', correct? I saw that coming but all worked for me. I've seen cases in testing (very few) where if I was xing a checkpoint at the time a controller switch had started, the checkpoint wasn't credited. I took off Rwy 11, and with a 2500fpm climb... well, that just about did it. I think I slowed the climb temporarily b4 the switch as I neared METIL, to get credit. It's a lousy thing, certainly something to be aware "can" happen. We call it, "one of them thar thangs". Just a guess on my part that's this is what's causing it for you.
December 23, 200223 yr Rob,METIL is the first WP. I think Doug is on to something.Lars nees to make absolutely certain he's crossing METIL and getting credited. Plus, it MUST be a DP with METIL being <30 miles.Lars, does CD tell you "cleared EKCH via published departure procedures"?
December 23, 200223 yr To Doug - i frankly aren't sure what they said, but since the first waypoint is within 30 NM, i'll suppose they did so. I had some FS2K2 related problems annoying me - everytime i wanted to move the GPS box the simulator froze.. So when it finally worked, my brain was rather exhausted.. LOLTo JT - yes, it was about 28 nm out and you are also correct that i was switched to "control". It sounds like a possibillity that it will cause a problem. Since it's obviously something you and perhaps others have experienced, i'm less "worried" and can live with that. I just felt that i might have overheard something, as i was flamed by a rather angry controller (won't mention any names... ;-) "it's the third time i tell you..." That the course wasn't towards the next waypoint, i couldn't know as he haven't told me to fly somewhere else.. P.S. - hope you didn't get any surprises taking of from rwy 11.. Even MS ATC used rwy 11 i could hear, so i was more than surprised that a small Cessna suddenly appeared on the runway taxiing the wrong direction.. (To him i can only say R.I.P.)... LOL
