December 22, 200223 yr Has anyone successfully added a second radio to this aircraft? I tried following the direction in the RCv3 manual but I am having problems. I am using the PSS panel with the POSKY V3 747. The aircraft config already has the "Com.2=1, 1" so I made no changes there. I added the "Window06=comm2 and audio" to the titles section inthe Rolls Royce panel config. I then added the [Window06] and other info to after the last window definition and before [Default view] When I go into the cockpit and I select the overhead panel button, I get a black screen, when I go to the menu and select instrument panel I do see a "comm2 and audio" section, but when I click on it I get a blank grey window. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance.
December 23, 200223 yr Rich,I don't use the PSS panel, but make certain that the Comm/Audio panel window really is 06. Look and see what the next sequential number is. Are you sure it's 06, and are you sure you are putting the window def at the end of everyting other window def?
December 23, 200223 yr Hi Scott,Here is my config file, with the additions for the comm2 that I made. Maybe this will give you an idea of what is going on. December 23, 200223 yr Rich,Well, it looks right. Someone who's added the radio to the PSS panel will have to join in. Are you sure there's no Comm 2 in the default radios?
December 23, 200223 yr As far as there not being a com2 radio in the default PSS 747 I don't think so. I can hear both FSATC and RCV3 on the one radio I have now, but there is no where to tune a second com radio. Thanks for looking at it though!
December 23, 200223 yr Scott, This is what a typical panel.cfg looks like in my folders.//--------------------------------------------------------[Window01]file=COLUMN.BMP size_mm=1024window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=1ident=32gauge00=prop2ERKap, 665,624,321,55gauge01=russ_parkbrake, 697,702,82,74//--------------------------------------------------------[Window02]Background_color=16,16,16 size_mm=150,250window_size_ratio=1.000 position=8visible=0ident=GPS_PANELwindow_size= 0.234, 0.441window_pos= 0.760, 0.490In the PSS example where are the brackets with Window01, 02, etc? Doesn't need them? I'm confused here. ;-)Rob
December 23, 200223 yr Bor,they don't show in the forum since they're html code. But if you look at the source, Rich has them in there. You will note yours is missing them, too.

December 23, 200223 yr I have placed mine in the bottom left hand corner of the pedestal window as a gauge on top of the pedestal (unlike making a new window for it). It's out of the way of everything. This is the section from my RR panel cfg file:---------------Window02file=..panelDOWN.BMPsize_mm=1024position=0visible=0ident=THROTTLE_PANELgauge00=PSS-744!Pedestal, 425, 0, 599gauge01=boeing777-300!Comm 2, 900, 298, 127, 64gauge02=boeing777-300!Audio, 477, 739, 156, 30----------------It does have it's problems sometimes by not showing, but that's not a bother since you only use it once at startup and then open the ATC window to change frequencies. If it doesn't show, just click where it's supposed to be, and around what you clicked will show. Let me know if you need more help. This is just the way I do it.Subs
December 23, 200223 yr there's an error in the instructions.instead of the dots, like here:gauge00=Boeing777-300.Comm 2,0,0,254,106gauge01=Boeing777-300.Audio,0,107,254,52there must be exclamation marks like here:gauge00=Boeing777-300!Comm 2,0,0,254,106gauge01=Boeing777-300!Audio,0,107,254,52here's my section of the panel cfg file that works:[Window06]background_color=120,120,120size_mm=254,160position=8visible=0ident=66gauge00=Boeing777-300!Comm 2,0,0,254,106gauge01=Boeing777-300!Audio,0,107,254,52greetingsStephan
December 23, 200223 yr Stephan,Nuts. That's an error in the doc copy, not my original instructions. Thanks for noticing that.Adding a Comm 2 and Audio panel to any panel without one--------------------------------------------------------NOTE!! These instructions are only if you DO NOT already have a Comm 2 radio on your panel!! If you already have a Comm 2, just use that.1) Open the panel.cfg file you want to add the radio to with any text editor.2) Add the following to the end of the [Window Titles] list:windowXX=comm2 and audiowhere XX is the next sequential number.3) At the end of the file, after the last window definition (before "&l;Default View&r;" or anything under that), put in this section, replacing XX with the same number as you set above:&l;WindowXX&r;background_color=120,120,120size_mm=254,160visible=0position=8ident=66gauge00=Boeing777-300!Comm 2,0,0,254,106gauge01=Boeing777-300!Audio,0,107,254,52This will add a reasonably proportioned comm 2 and audio panel to the panel. This scale works well with 1280x768 main panel size. If you want something smaller after looking at it in FS, you will need to add "window_size_ratio=x.x" where x.x is the scale after "size_mm". Remember that if you save the flight the window sizes WILL NOT CHANGE. ALWAYS start with another aicraft with another panel, then load the aircraft that uses this one.If you want the blue 737-400 radio color, replace "Boeing777-300" with "737-400".4) Save.5) In ALL the aircraft.cfg files you use this panel with, open aircraft.cfg and look for this section. It might look different, but the key is there is no Comm2 radio (Com.2=0,0):&l;Radio&r;// Radio Type=available, standby frequency, has glide slopeAudio.1=1Com.1=1, 0Com.2=0, 0Nav.1=1, 0, 1Nav.2=1, 0, 0Adf.1=1Transponder.1=1Marker.1=1Now change "Com.2=0, 0", to "Com.2=1, 1"6) Save.7) Run FS8) To set Comm 2 as the active to listen to 2K2 ATC, open the "comm2 and audio" window from the "Views/Instrument Panel" menu pulldown, or if you know how to open windows from the keyboard, open it.Click on "Comm 2" on the Audio Panel, and make sure "BTH" (Both) is off.9) Run RC, which will set Comm 1.10) Occasionally open the ATC window (keyboard ` or however you do it) and see if it says to change the radio. Click 1 to change the radio to the current freq, but DO NOT TALK TO ATC!!!! DO NOT REQUEST VFR FF!! DO NOT TALK TO TRAFFIC! DO NOT DO ANYTHING BUT LISTEN!!Enjoy.
