January 18, 200323 yr Gents, does Radar Contact mesh with MyTraffic? Any technical issues I should be aware of with respect to its use in conjunction with MyTraffic before I buy Radar Contact? Thanks!
January 18, 200323 yr Tom,RC knows nothing about AI except in the air if it's in front of you in a confined space in your path.
January 18, 200323 yr I have both MyTraffic and RC3. There are no technical problems with them exisisting together. However, all the nice new airline names that you hear after installing MyTraffic can only be heard if you use the built-in ATC for chatter, but this I cannot recommend because it quickly becomes very annoying when the two ATC systems talk over each other.
January 18, 200323 yr Scott,The whole purpose of MyTraffic is to provide AI traffic that looks and sounds much closer to the real thing than what MS provided. E.g. when I start out from the airport closest to where I live, EKAH, I can expect it to be predominantly populated with SAS and Maersk planes, both in terms of liveries and ATC callsigns. If you're asking for a list of the airline companies represented in MyTraffic, I think it's available somewhere, but I couldn't find it just now.
January 18, 200323 yr Hendis-So if I turn off the FS2k2 built in ATC, does RC3 give you chatter? If so, what is the difference, lesser amount of airlines? Lesser amount of transmissions? Etc.Thanks
January 18, 200323 yr >Tom, >>RC knows nothing about AI except in the air if it's in front >of you in a confined space in your path. Then how does the chatter environment work when you are in the ground with the MyTraffic AI? Does RC not handle the ground instructions to MyTraffic AI still on the ground? If not, how is there a controlled ground environment?
January 19, 200323 yr Tom,There isn't. RC doesn't know about the AI. Until MS puts out an SDK that tells how to read ground traffic, you have to monitor FSATC on comm 2 so you know what's going on around you.As for chatter, either you can use canned chatter, or RC-generated chatter. Generated chatter at least uses the right runway info for the airport you are at. If you can get ahold of RL recorded chatter for the airports you are at, then that is always a plus.
January 19, 200323 yr >So if I turn off the FS2k2 built in ATC, does RC3 give you >chatter? If so, what is the difference, lesser amount of >airlines? Lesser amount of transmissions? Etc. You get all the chatter you want, some of it recorded from the real world and some generated at random. The difference from the built-in ATC is merely that what you hear there reflects the actual AI aircraft you may or may not see around you. In RC3 it's a sound effect to build atmosphere, no more, no less.I'm sure there are those who prefer RC3's chatter to FS2002's, but I find that I don't really listen to it, because I know there's no real information in it. Therefore, I also don't want to comment on the included airlines. I'm sure someone here will. One thing I have noticed, though, is that airports are named by their ICAO codes, which is no surprise, considering the enormous recording task required, even if it were only for the most important airports. But, FS2002 does it ;-)
