Help. RC v3 No sounds ( Pilots Controllers Chat)

Featured Replies

I have installe RCV3 as per instructions. All seem to be in place.I have advdisplay 2.0 and FSUIPC 2.96.The manual says that I will find an icon in the upper left corner of the screen once I start RCv3. No such icon shows up (neither in my P4 2.8 Ghertz laptop, neither in my desk top)What I do in the Lap top is to activate advdisplay , resize it and dock it.Then I start RCv3. No problem there with voices / Chat sounds.I do the same with my desk top PIII 1 Ghtz but no sound of voices or chat.Another question:I do I get the new RContact signature image with fancy logo?Edmundo Cardenas van Grieken/SVMICaracas, Venezuela

http://avsim.com/flightdeck/images/Radar_small.gifProud pilot of http://www.flymeridian.com|Meridian%20Airline' target="_blank">Proud Supporter of[c][link:www.flightsimmers.net/radarcontact]Radar Contact][/c], the premiere ATC adventure add-on for FS

Edmundo,The callsign audition icon is on the options page next to the callsign. As fo no sound on the desktop system, read this reply to the same question right below.http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...ewmode=threadedFor the sig logo, read the "Welcome to Radar Contact" topic at the top of the forum. I'd point you to the Flight Deck site, but that server is touch and go. You can try the Flight Deck RCv3 page (link in my sug) to get the logo installed if you get the page to come up.

Scott.Thank you for your help.I have a Creative sound blaster on Board (Mobo) on my Intel PIII D8155EEA.Never had any problems with RCV2 or RCV2.1 so that is the reason I have not worried about sound card. What is the difference between the way sound is handle in RCv3 vis a vis Rcv2.1Thanks for your info on the logo.Edmundo ----------------------------------------------------------------It is better to be vaguely right than prescisely wrong.

Edmundo,>Scott. >Thank you for your help.I have a Creative sound blaster on >Board (Mobo) on my Intel PIII D8155EEA.Undoubtedly, that's an old PCI128-format chip.>Never had any problems with RCV2 or RCV2.1 so that is the >reason I have not worried about sound card. >>What is the difference between the way sound is handle in >RCv3 vis a vis Rcv2.1RC 2 and 2.1 were adventure compilers. Adventures ran inside FS and used the single FS sound output. RCv3 is an external program that also uses the sound drivers, so you are trying to play wavs external to FS. This is why you need a multi-channel card, to play multiple wavs from multiple sources independently.Onr thing you can check is see if anywhere in the sound doc, there's any mention of playing multiple wavs simultaneously. This is probably difficult to find since even the SB Live! cards really don't mention it.

Thanks Scott:Guess I will have to get my an Audigy, or something like that. What do you recommend . Do not want to spend that much money, since soundwise I mostly into simming sounds.

Edmundo,Any new SB card should work. The SB Live! Value may be cheaper than most. I know the Audigy is the top-of-the-line card, and may cost the most. Look around and see what's the best value for the features.
