RCATC

Featured Replies

Hi there Rick.Thank you for your response and most of today I have been trying to fly with RC and chanching the commandline switch to high has improved the speech a bit.I downloaded the 3.01 version and far as I can see there are no problems, but again what do I know, I'm new at this! What bothers me is the fact that RC and ATC don't really work together and I ended up having my IFR flightplan canceled by the ATC and they keep nagging for me to change back to there Squickcode (I don't if I spelled this one right?).Further I noticed that my airspace has become empty and very silent..Has this anything to do with ATC canceling on me?The reason being for them canceling the IFR was the fact that I changed the runway and for this reason I could not get their takeoff approval.Ofcource with RC there was no problem.I've got one more question. I'm flying the Ready for Pushback 747-200 Classic and in FDC I choose the voices for my crew and myself, now with RC I myself have a different voice and my Co-pilot has been changed to a female pilot named Otto? (No offence meant here) Is there somewhere in RC I can change the voiceset to one of my choice?A lot of questions but again I'm new with RC.Thank you all.Carel.

Hi Carel,The only mistake you are making is trying to use MS_ATC and RCv3 together. You can listen to but do not follow the MS_ATC controller instructions. There is a section in the RCv3 manual on how to use MS_ATC and RCv3 together beginning on page 107. Since you are new to RCv3 I recommend you not use MS_ATC until you are more familiar with Radar Contact. You can turn off MS_ATC by clicking on Options|Settings|Sounds in FS2002. Slider the ATC bar all the way to the left. You can not change RCv3 voice sets to FDC voice sets. You can add additional voice sets to Radar Contact. Go to Scott Campbell's Flight Deck http://fsflightdeck.com/rcv3/index.html and download the 2 additional co-pilot voices. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to RCv30Winwood. Locate the 0 folder and rename it to 0-rr (this will save your current copilot if you want to go back to her). Install one of the additional co-pilot voice sets. Rename it to either 0-je or 0-jj depending on which one you wish to use. Install the other voice set. Now you can use each one by renaming the folder to 0.Or you can record your own voice sets by using the recording utility also on Scott's site.

Rick,I changed the unzipped folder names of Jeff and Juliana to 0-je and 0-jj. I saw the error of my ways. ;-)So to install, just unzip the file(s), and you'll have 0-je and/or 0-jj, then rename one of those to 0 after renaming 0 to 0-rr. The instructions are still not in the zips, but are now on the web page. This also means you can now more easily use additional voices as pliots.

Thank you Rick!I should have known better than to ask questions with answers readily availeble in the manual.Sorry about that! Thanks again for your help and take care.Carel
