March 27, 200323 yr Hi all.Is RC3 capable of send hold instructions if the weather at the destination airport is not very fine? And another related question: Can RC3 instruc to hold if the arrival traffic is heavy?RegardsJose M. March 27, 200323 yr As far as I know, RC cannot issue a hold unless you tell it to by setting the probability of a hold in the options page. I don't believe that RC has any knowledge of weather in making holding decisions. If you get a hold, it will say that things are backed up at the arrival airport. Again, RC is aware of AI aircraft that are close to you but again, I don't think it enters that logic of holding.I use Activesky wxRE and if it looks like my arrival airport has bad conditions, as revealed in the TAF, I will bump the probability of a hold up high, say btwn 7 and 9. Then I have a good chance of being issued a hold. Also, and thanks to jd for explaining this, you're last waypoint must be a VOR within 5 miles of your arrival airport. The holding handling in RC is great. It's especially fun if you use something like DreamFleet 737 with a programable FMC. Just listen to the directions from ATC and set up the hold in the FMC...Great fun!I apologize if I've got anything wrong here. If so, I'm sure someone will help out with a clarification.Hope this helps.Adam
March 27, 200323 yr Thanks very much for yours words, Adam. But only as a sugestion, if RC really knows the weather because the weather values are send to me when I request the metar, perhaps these same vaules would also be implemented in the hold function as another variable in addition to the present percentage condition.Regards,Jose M. March 28, 200323 yr I agree! weather related holds would be a nice feature to incorporate into future versions of RC. Also the ability to request destination airport weather at any time during the flight through the RC interphase rather than having to bring up FSMeteo or whatever weather program you're using. RPM.
