In case you wonder how realistic RC is...

I was listening to Denver International (KDEN), APC, DEP, and various Centers this morning and just about everything in RC was called. All within a 4 hour period. The 2 strangest bits were:1) A plane hit a flock of birds on takeoff (bird strike) and requested return to airport. When the controller asked how bad the strike was, the pilot responded, "There were feathers then lots of blood and guts. The window is a mess."He got priority....except...2) Everyone going into and out of Denver and Centennial (KAPA) were being redirected because of a pair of F-16's practicing AIRCAP (air loiter for enemy aircraft), and were zipping up and down from FL350 to the ground.Who says airliners get priority, even if they have an emergency?Whomever decided it was a good idea to locate an Air Guard base next to a populated area with several major airports (one being a seriously major International one), is an idiot. So those, as well as almost everything you'll get in RC, was handled, mostly because the air was filled with stupid people today who shouldn't have been in the air. But the controllers did their fair share, too. One pilot was fairly irritated when the APC guy told him to cancel the approach clearance and go do it all over again - because the controller messed up.Mr. Bill will be a busy boy today.
