Sound Problems

Featured Replies

I'm having sound problems with FS9 which extend into RC as well. Basically, sound played via FS (ATC/ATIS) and RC are barely audible. I have checked forum posts with sound problems and have checked all things mentioned:CodecsReinstall Media PlayerFresh installation of XP Home (reformat etc)Fresh install of FS9What happens is that I can play the wav files OK in Media Player, but when played through RC (speaker icon on opening page), I hear nothing or it's very, very faint. I have all volume sliders etc set to max, as well as my speaker volume. I have installed the latest drivers I can find for my Realtek AC97 onboard sound. The problem extends to FS in that ATC/ATIS sounds are barely audible despite the above actions. All other FS sounds, and sounds via Windows etc are all OK. My apologies as I posted a similar message in the FS General forum, but as it affects RC as well I thought I'd post it here too. This is a mystery as I've never had a problem like this before, but I thought a fresh format/reinstall would do the trick, but unfortunately not.RegardsDavid

Is your Realtek AC97 capable of multi-channel sound?

Thanks for your reply Rick.I bit the bullet and purchased a stand-alone sound card and everything is back to normal. The AC97 did work OK with RC3.0 and FS2002 thoughThanksDavid
