December 16, 200421 yr Seems great so far. 1) After getting clearance to taxi, I accidentally contacted tower as if I was already holding short at the rnwy. I was still at the gate and tower cleared me for t/o. I thought the controller in RC would sorta know where I am.2) Maybe I'm dense but where's the chatter files? If it's included I don't know what I did wrong, it's not playing. Thanks, this will be a lot of fun.
December 16, 200421 yr In Radar Contact click on the Options menu item. Make sure the Chatter slider is not in the off position. Also under other in the top right corner make sure all items are checked except Display text.Did you follow the Rcv3.1 upgrade instructions contained in the key letter we sent you?

I thought the>controller in RC would sorta know where I am.There are probably two kinds of RC users: those who have mistakenly contacted tower at the gate, and those who are going to mistakenly contact tower at the gate. :)>2) Maybe I'm dense but where's the chatter files? December 16, 200421 yr Man, I got the chatter working, it was the slider, such an idiot. Is there an option for synthetic chatter though? Sorry, this is probably written somewhere.I getting some stuttering though, could it be the chatter files are fragmented? I usually get none.So let me get this right, just because I contacted tower and they gave me clearance while still at the gate, that doesn't mean I did something wrong in the install? I don't care that it cleared me, I was just afraid that I didn't direct RC to the correct FS9 file. Evidently it's ok because when I actually got to the rnwy, tower cleared me again. Thanks for the quick help!
December 17, 200421 yr Nothing wrong with the install. There are two ways to respond to ATC instructions: pressing '7' simply acknowledges the instruction, e.g., taxi to runway, hold short, contact tower. Pressing '1' acknowledges the instruction and immediately tunes to the next frequency and contacts the controller. Convenient when you're being handed off from tower to approach, but not terribly useful after getting taxi instructions at the gate. You'll get into the habit of hitting 7 on the ground.Mark Kuebeler
