Fastwrites/SBA

Featured Replies

Hello all,Could someone with a brain bigger than mine tell me if its beneficial to enable all the boxes for Fastwrites and Sideband Addressing within GTU under the system tab? I have tried all on and all off and the only difference I notice is that with them on, I don't have to alt+tab out and back into the sim in order to attain max FPS. With them on though, I get an occasional sim freeze, but the system itself doesn't lock up. Also, if it would be better to leave some on and some off, would someone tell me which ones. One last favor, how should I configure my Award BIOS for max performance. I was in contact with Paul_01, but he never got back to me on his setup, as his (old) system was very similar to mine, although he murdered my 3DMark scores. Thanks

I've never observed any significant gain from enabling these features. In fact all I've EVER gotten out of these features is pure instability :). With FS, the liklihood that you'll see any measurable gain from these features on such a CPU-bound product is unlikely. On other "GPU-bound" titles, you may see improvement, though. As for 3DMark..don't sweat the small stuff. The 3DMark score is easily swayed by CPU, system memory bandwidth, and chipset. I dispaired at first when I got my Ti4400 and only clocked 7000 (all the reviews were flaunting 10K-11K+). I later came to discover that your 3DMark score will scale proportionately to your CPU (up to a point) if the CPU is the limiting factor.J

Thanks for the input. I'll leave those options alone forevermore.
